How To Make Blueberry Scones

Easy and delicious blueberry scones with a moist and buttery texture, perfect for breakfast or afternoon tea.

Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 20 minutes
Total: 30 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Add the cold cubed butter to the dry mixture and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to cut it into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and vanilla extract. Slowly pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined.

  5. Gently fold in the fresh blueberries.

  6. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead it a few times until it comes together. Be careful not to overmix or the scones will become tough.

  7. Pat the dough into a circle about 3/4 inch thick. Cut the dough into 8 triangles.

  8. Place the scones onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown on top.

  9. Remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack before serving.
